Q. Are you the company I've read articles about and seen on TV?

A. Probably. Sunshine International is one of the best correspondence services and also the most imitated (as you will notice if you have also received literature from other companies.) We were established in 1984 and have set the standards for the correspondence field which other services try to emulate. We are always open to interviews and do many. Here are some of them: Q. Are you a "mail order bride company"?

 A. Absolutely not! A "mail order bride company" sells marital slaves. If your "bride" is not submissive enough you can return her within 30 days for a prompt refund or exchange her for another bride. "Mail order bride companies" exist only in the minds of biased critics and the imaginations of portions of the media. There is no such thing as a "mail order bride" or "mail order bride company!" In reality, it is the ladies who do the choosing by selecting which men they wish to respond back to. Sunshine International is a correspondence/penpal service which promotes friendship. We respect our lady members and present them in a wholesome manner such as befits them. The only "exploitation" of Asian ladies comes from biased critics who portray them as prostitutes trying to escape desparate circumstances. If this is true, then why do we have Japanese lady members who can afford to fly over here anytime they want and are not even required to have a visa? Most of Asia is very modern and the people enjoy a high standard of living. Granted, there are a few places of poverty such as the slum sections of Manila but these are the exception not the rule. Just because a person is poor does not mean that they are a thief. On the contrary, some of the nicest and most sincere ladies come from poor families.

Q. I've heard that the Philippine government has banned "mail order bride companies". Does this affect your company or me marrying a Filipino lady?

A. No. On July 24, 1989, the former Philippine government passed a law prohibiting "mail order bride" companies from operating in the Philippines. The law also prohibits tour operators from bringing groups of foreign men to the Philippines to meet Filipino ladies with the intentions of marriage. The law does not, however, deprive the ladies from corresponding with or marrying a foreigner. We do not solicit the ladies to join us nor do we operate in the Philippines. Since the inception of our business in 1984, Sunshine International has earned an excellent reputation and the multitude of ladies we hear from the Philippines are entirely through word of mouth. The law would, however, affect new services who need to recruit female members, also services which sell video tapes of ladies who live in the Philippines and tour operators who bring men to the Philippines to meet the ladies. Sunshine International has many lady members from other Asian countries - not just the Philippines.

Q. Will you sell my name to other companies or list brokers?

A. No. We never sell or trade the names of our clients or men who inquire about our service although we are often approached by other companies. We feel it's an invasion of your privacy when you inquire about a service and end up receiving unwanted junk mail from questionable sources. Unlike some websites, we also do not use cookies to follow your movements when you are surfing our website. Some clubs sell names to make an extra buck, but rest assured your privacy is respected by Sunshine International and all information is strictly confidential. Occasionally, an unscrupulous club may get hold of our Personal Listing Service lists and solicit our clients. This is unethical and also illegal. Both America and Asia have some shady outfits who will promise you anything under the sun to get your money. Be forewarned. We have heard from men who sent money and received nothing!

Q. What is your success rate? What is my chance of finding a woman through your company?

A. We are responsible for thousands of marriages since 1984. We hear good news from our clients continuously on a daily basis. However, ultimately it is you who will have to make it successful. There are many factors: for example, how do you present yourself in your letter; are you being realistic about the ladies you seek; are you writing to just a few pretty ladies, etc.? Our Writing Tips will help you produce the best results. The men who do not succeed are usually the ones who are arrogant, egostical, impatient or disrepectful to the ladies and their cultures.

Q. Why are your prices so reasonable compared to some other companies?

A. Our main goal is to make people happy, so we make our service as affordable as possible. Some services charge ridiculously high prices. With Sunshine International, you get what you pay for - top quality, full time, established service and many nice, beautiful ladies. We are the Rolls Royce of correspondence clubs, but with a Toyota price. This is one of the many reasons why we are #1.

Q. What is the best way to pay for your services?

A. Money order, cashiers check or credit card is best because we can send your order immediately in a discreet envelope within 24 hrs. by 1st class mail. Since we do bank deposits once a week, clients who pay by personal checks must allow 15 working days before we send the orders out. We realize a check may clear before the 15 days are up, but we cannot expect our bank everyday to track down which checks have gone through.

ABOUT OUR LADY MEMBERS


Q. What type of women use your service? Can they speak and write English?

 A. Unlike other companies, we do not feature ladies wearing skimpy swim suits or publish revealing, suggestive photos. We feature only nice, educated Asian ladies. We believe that effective communication is the foundation of a lasting relationship. Therefore, the Asian women we feature must be English-speaking. Many have university/college degrees. They are secretaries, nurses, teachers, clerks, receptionists, artists, students, businesswomen, etc. The majority of them are religious and are non-smokers, non-drinkers. Most are Catholics and Christians while some are Buddhists. Japanese, Korean or Thai girls typically do not speak or write English as good as the other Asian ladies. Therefore, we do not include as many Japanese, Korean or Thai women as, say, Filipino women.

Q. How do you find so many beautiful women?

A. Because Sunshine International has been established for so many years, we are the most famous and respected penpal company in Asia and are very popular among Asian women. The majority of Asian women hear about us through word of mouth from girlfriends or relatives who are happily married through our service. Some also see our advertisements in Asia or on the internet. We receive a multitude of letters every day directly from desirable, single Asian women who are eager for friendship, romance or potential marriage.
Unlike other companies, we do not purchase names and addresses of Asian women from "overseas agencies" (predominantly in China and Russia) who supply model-like pictures of ladies most of whom cannot communicate in English. "Overseas agencies" sell the same pictures, names and addresses of women over and over to a large number of penpal services.

Q. Why do the ladies use your service? Are they just trying to get to America?

A. Asian ladies are attracted to Western men because they find us physically attractive and consider us to make the best husbands. They regard American men as being considerate gentlemen who treat a lady with respect and honor. It has nothing to do with coming to live in America. They would be perfectly happy if the men moved to their country instead. The U.S. Immigration laws require that a lady must be married for two years before she can become a permanent resident of the United States. This would certainly eliminate any gold-diggers.

A. Our service is free to the ladies.

Q. Do you feature Asian ladies living in the U.S. (including Hawaii?)

A. Not often. Over the years our clients have shown they prefer ladies living in the Orient. They reported that Asian ladies in the Orient have maintained the traditional values which are lacking in America.

Q. How recent are the addresses of your ladies?

A. We only feature ladies who wrote to us since the previous issue was published. We send a letter to each lady to ensure that her address is correct prior to featuring her.

Q. What about the ladies who aren't published?

 A. You may purchase the original letters of the Asian ladies we don't publish. Please click here for details.

Q. What about back issues of Sunshine Girls?

 A. Just because a lady was published does not mean she has met "Mr. Right". We often hear from pretty ladies who were featured in a back issue but are still seeking the right man. Since we do not publish the ladies again, they are no longer receiving mail and often still want to hear from men. We make these back issues available so that the ladies can still have the chance to correspond with men. Many clients report good results from back issues.

Q. I notice some of your ladies are also in other websites. Did they steal them from you?

A. In some instances, yes. Some services and, in some cases, individuals purchased issues from us to solicit our ladies (a service in the Isle of Man, England; a service based in Geneva, Switzerland; a service in Hong Kong, a service in the Washington state; two services in California, just to name a few). We have ways of finding out which companies have ripped us off and will initiate legal actions once we have gathered unequivocal evidence to win our case. Because the ladies are very happy with Sunshine International and we forewarn them about these services, they don't acknowledge these illegal solicitations. This still does not stop these unethical services from listing them anyway knowing that their male clients are not going to receive responses. Having said all that, sometimes if the same lady is also featured in other websites, this probably means the lady had heard of the them at the same time and sent in the same photo to all of them. We keep the original letters of every lady we feature in our files.

ABOUT WRITING TO THE LADIES


Q. How long does it take the girls to reply to a letter?

A. Some ladies write back right away - others may wait to get photos taken. Mail to Asia takes 1-2 weeks each way.

Q. Is it necessary to help the ladies with postage? Shall I send them any money?

A. Sending the ladies stamps is a thoughtful gesture but it does not guarantee that they will write back. The ladies will write to the men they are genuinely interested in anyway. Most Asian ladies can afford stamps. The ladies can only use stamps of their country. We sometimes have foreign stamps available. Please ask for availability. NOTE: While the majority of the ladies are sincere, occasionally there will be a bad apple. Beware if the lady asks you for money to help her or her family; if she is too eager to marry you; if she makes inconsistent statements about herself and her family; if she is unwilling to send you more photos of herself or her family. We do not recommend sending money under any circumstances unless you have met her and her family in person and feel that you know her really well. If a lady asks you for money and you have any doubts about her, please call us.

Q. Are responses guaranteed?

A. No. We do not guarantee responses because we have no control over whom the ladies choose to write back to. We also cannot guarantee e-mail addresses or phone numbers. However, we receive extremely good feedback from many happy clients.

Q. Are the ladies receiving so much mail that I'll just be wasting my time writing to them?

A. Since our Sunshine Girls issues are packed with nice, pretty ladies, the men have a very wide selection to choose from. This will eliminate the situation of men only having just a few pretty ladies to write to and therefore the ladies being oversaturated with mail. Some of our lady members reported that they only received ten to twenty responses, some even less or none. In general, the ladies will usually write back to the men they find appealing and feel compatible with. Therefore, the more ladies you write to, the better chance you will find your Special lady.

Q. These ladies are so beautiful. Am I just wasting my time?

 A. It is true that you must be realistic about yourself and the type of woman you seek. Remember the story about the man who spent his life searching for the perfect woman. Unfortunately, when he finally found her, he discovered she was searching for the perfect man! However, even if you have what you consider "average" looks, in an Asian lady's eyes you would probably be considered handsome. If you are honest, sincere and with good moral character, you are very desirable to the ladies.

THE MEN WHO USE OUR SERVICE


Q. What type of men use your service and why?

A. Our clients range in age from 18 to 65 yrs. old (majority in their 30's & 40's). They are doctors, lawyers, government employees, teachers, well-known movie actors, musicians, policemen, univ. students, farmers, servicemen, clergymen, firemen, engineers, accountants, etc. They are gentlemen who treat women with respect and appreciate a sincere relationship or the security of a good marriage and happy home. Some have never been married and want to settle down, but are tired of singles bars, etc. Some are divorced or widowed, or just want nice friends to write to. They use our service because they are seeking meaningful friendships and relationships. They are drawn to Asian women for their beauty, femininity and traditional values.

Q. What about age differences?

A. To many Asian ladies, especially Filipinas, age is not a factor as it is associated with stability, wisdom and strong character. Sunshine Girls issues feature ladies ages 18-55 with the majority in their 20's & 30's. Over the years, we have observed that Asian women are very mature emotionally even in their late teens. Though some 18 to 19 year old Japanese and Korean ladies may be interested in friendship only, most young Filipino ladies are marriage-minded and ready for it emotionally. Many would welcome letters from men twice their age or more.

Q. What about race or income?

A. Most of the ladies are very open-minded. Many of our satisfied clients are African-American, Asian-American, Hispanic-American, etc. As to income, rest assured the ladies are more interested in your sincerity, honesty and moral character rather than how much money you have.

Q. Does your service cater to American men only?

A. Although the majority of our clientele is in the United States, we also have many clients who are residing in Canada, Europe, Asia, etc. As long as you are a nice single man and you treat women with equality and respect, you are very desirable to these Asian ladies.

ABOUT MEETING THE LADIES


Q. How can I meet my penfriend in person?

A. In general, most men take a trip to the Orient if things get serious because unless a lady is from a wealthy country, such as Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Singapore, etc., or is financially well off, it is difficult for her to get a tourist visa to visit the U.S.

Q. Isn't it expensive to go to Asia? The airline company quoted me over $1,000 for a ticket.

 A. If booked through a reputable travel agency which specializes in the Orient, a round trip ticket would be about $700-$800 from the West coast of America. These agencies advertise in the travel sections of Sunday newspapers from large cities. They buy up blocks of seats from the airlines and are able to offer you a good price. We strongly do not recommend using any "one-man" tour operators. Your lady friend(s) would love to meet you at the airport and show you around. Who would be a better tour guide than your lady friend(s) to show you around! In Asia, transportation, food and hotels are reasonable except in Japan, Taiwan, Korea and Hong Kong. Tourism offices can provide you with free information on cultures, hotels, maps, etc.

Q. Is it safe to go to the Philippines?

A. Over the years, many clients who traveled to the Philippines to meet their lady friends or to get married reported having a great time when sound judgment was used. We suggest that you use common sense and do not stay out late alone at night, especially around entertainment districts or remote places. Keep a low profile - dress casually, do not flash money or expensive jewelry around or get into political discussion.

Q. I've heard that there are some companies and tour operators who organise tours to the Philippines. Would it be better for me to meet girls this way. Would it be easier and faster?

A. We do not recommend using this method of finding your special lady. It is best to get to know your lady well first through correspondence before you meet her. By the time you two meet, you already know a great deal about each other. Going with a tour group, you will be meeting a group of strangers. Since you have traveled all that way, you may have the tendency of trying to rush into a relationship or commitment with a lady you hardly know during your short visit. Also, the Philippine laws prohibit tour operators from bringing foreign men to meet ladies in the Philippines with intent to marriage. Tour operators charge thousands of dollars. While some offer an honest service, others may not deliver what they promise. A bona fide travel agency can book your plane tickets and hotels for you for much less. Some travel books also offer excellent, up-to-date information on how to travel economically. These books and travel agencies are mentioned in our travel tips included free if your order is $80.00 or more. Your lady friend(s) will be more than happy to meet you at the airport and show you around. Who could be a better tour guide than your lady friend(s)!

IMMIGRATION


Q. What about immigration?

A. Hundreds of couples go through it successfully every year and so can you! You can marry your lady either in her country or in the U.S. but either way, you both must meet in person before a visa to enter the U.S. will be issued by the U.S. government (not by the government of your lady's country). If you want to hire a professional to handle the immigration matters for you, be sure to hire a bona fide immigration attorney who handles immigration matters professionally everyday. Consult the state or county bar association in your area for recommendations. Some "mom & pop" operations offer to handle these affairs for you but just because a couple went through the immigration process themselves does not qualify them to handle immigration matters for others. We suggest you hold onto all your letters and phone bills, if you think you may have found that special person, along with wedding photos, etc. Ask your lady to do the same. They will help prove that your marriage is in good faith.

Q. Is AIDS prevalent in Asia?

A. According to the World Health Organization statistics, AIDS is not prevalent in Asia except in Thailand. The American Embassy or Consulate will not issue your lady a fiancee or immigrant visa until she has passed a thorough medical examination.

HOW TO SPOT FLY-BY-NIGHT OR UNETHICAL PENPAL COMPANIES


Q. What about other companies?

A. There are many companies out there (especially since the birth of the internet as it is quite easy for almost any body to create a website to do business with the public.) In some respects, this is good because we believe in freedom of choice. We welcome competition because we are the best. A few other services are also sincere in their intentions and offer an honest service. However, about 90% of the others are "fly by night" outfits who end up degrading this type of service and the ladies they feature. Most are pretty obvious, but some companies will go to any extreme to appear established. They may do one or all of the following:

Many of these "fly by nights" also try to imitate us by stealing our ladies' pictures from our website; advertisements, information material, etc. Flattery or just unimaginative thievery? You decide! If they rip off someone else's ideas it tells you a lot about their ethics. We have tons of testimonial letters from many happy clients who can vouch that we are not only a good but an outstanding and effective service which continuously changes people's lives for the better.

We have seen over 500 "companies" come and go in the years we've been in business! About 50 services a year will appear and disappear overnight for various reasons - inexperience, lack of money, dishonorable intentions or poor service.
